New ‘residency’ at blend for 2 months from Saturday the 6th of May
First wine bar to open in Harringay – Pop & Pour… comes to blend cafe for May and June
Blend was the first independent coffee shop of its kind to open in the vibrant heart of Harringay and continues to be the local community’s favourite for coffee, homemade cakes and seasonal brunch. After a hugely successful evening residency by Laksa specialist Sambal Shiok the next endeavour is already due to open its doors at blend in the first week of May.
Resident chef Will Robertson and the Pop & Pour… team are in the starting blocks for a two month extravaganza of young wines, seasonal food and cool neighbourhood vibes.
Blend co-founder Steve Talevski: „Community has always been at the heart of what we are doing at blend. With Pop and Pour…. we are not only bringing some much needed variety to Green Lanes, this will be a game changer in terms of cooking styles and wine offering in the area.“
Pop and Pour…. will be a restaurant and wine bar in the tradition of the classic enoteca, where wine lovers can taste special and small-batch wines at reasonable prices. The selection will change frequently and consist of a vibrant mix of young, often blended wines that sometimes might not even make it to market. „We want to give our customers the chance to taste some amazing wines at really great prices“ says Will Robertson.
A creative and seasonal food menu complements the eclectic wine list, favouring quality ingredients and local producers such as the community gardens of „Living under one sun“ from Tottenham. Customers will have a choice of small plates featuring the likes of homemade chorizo croquettes or Parmesan biscuits and selected meats and cheeses from Sicillian family producers. For bigger appetites there will be an ever changing list of main courses including Robertson’s signature Bavette steak, a roast pollock with cockles and even confit leg of rabbit. Vegan and vegetarian options feature as highlights rather than afterthoughts, and the dessert list tops if off with an irresistible and equally homemade selection of treats.
Opening night Saturday 6th May.

Laksa specialists Sambal Shiok to take over
Blend Cafe Harringay for six-month winter residency
Mandy Yin and her team are bringing their signature laksa noodle soup to Harringay Green Lanes this winter. Blend will welcome them from Tuesday 25th October 2016 for six months. This residency follows on from Sambal Shiok’s sell-out runs at the Newman Arms, Salvation in Noodles Finsbury Park and The Sun & 13 Cantons Soho.
“I am excited to be coming back to North London, especially Green Lanes, as the first market to give me a chance was Harringay market when I started the business three years ago!”, says Mandy.
Linda Zubairi of blend says “We’ve been fans of Sambal Shiok ever since their Harringay market days and actually followed them around to their various locations. So we couldn’t be happier to be able to bring this gem back to Harringay. With their focus on excellent food and super nice team Sambal Shiok are the perfect fit for us at blend and will make a real difference to Green Lanes at night.”
Sambal Shiok will be serving dinners daily between 5.30-9.30pm Tuesdays to Saturdays. Closed on Sunday and Monday. Sambal Shiok will be closed from Saturday 24 December to Tuesday 3 January inclusive, reopening on Wednesday 4 January 2017
